PRESIDENT MAHAMA DELIVERS STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS

President John Mahama on today Thursday, February 25, delivered his fourth State of the Nation Address to Parliament.

In his third State of the Nation address in 2015, President Mahama touched on a myriad of issues from the economy to power, announcing government’s plans to invest GH¢1
billion in road projects across the country.

His address today covered the economic and social gains made as well as the various challenges that faced the country in the past
year, and the various interventions being taken by the government to push further the development of the nation.

The address, which is delivered annually, is in accordance with Article 67 of the country’s
constitution which states: “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament
and before dissolution of Parliament, deliver to
Parliament a message on the state of the nation.”

Though most members of the minority in Parliament did not attend the State of the Nation Address, the few who showed up showed discontent at some proclaimations of the President during his presentation.

They claimed they expected the President to come up with much clearer measures and policies which are of national interest than of political interest.

Here are some photos of what took place in the Parliament House in Accra today.
